Modeling of Systems

AlphaLink can describe models of various natures using basic physical equations. It does not matter whether the system is a single rigid body (such as an aircraft or ship), a multi-body system (such as an automobile or a wind energy plant) or a flexible system.


Besides kinematic modeling, the modeling of aerodynamic forces is one of our strengths. We also handle the modeling of electric power trains, as they are required for unmanned aircraft. Since modeling is not an end-in-itself, we analyze the system and identify potential for improvement.

We perform flight performance calculations for aircraft to evaluate the advantages of your unmanned system in terms of endurance and range. Our models can be calculated in fast time or real time. With our web-based visualization, you have the possibility to see your technical system in action before production. To give you a more detailed insight into your system, we take over the modeling of your existing or planned project.



System Identification

Often, systems can be described by basic physical equations, but the parameters of these systems are unknown. In addition, an integrated circuit may be used whose behavior is unknown (e.g. a motor controller for a brushless motor). System identification is required for modeling in such cases.


Due to our competence in the field of sensor technology, measurement data processing and design of experiments, we can identify your system quickly and reliably. For UAS, we also offer in-flight identification. With the identified models, it is possible to design controllers that achieve the maximum performance of your system. When supporting you in planning your project, we carry out the identification at your site.


Control Law Design

Controllers are used to achieve a desired behavior for a system. This can be following of trajectories, tracking of reference values, or stabilizing of a system. Standard controllers are available for many applications. Nevertheless, these controllers are not necessarily optimal in terms of performance and stability. A very high level of robustness typically restricts the potential benefit of intelligent control engineering. This prevents you from getting the best performance out of your system by not exploiting the full potential it actually has.

AlphaLink provides a remedy and designs the most suitable controllers for your system. We take into account (official) requirements for robustness and stability and design the controller with the best performance within these given limits. Our controllers can be used for SISO and MIMO applications. Our design methods are tailored to your project. We can also design observers for you to monitor non-measurable states of your system.


Our controllers do not only work in simulation, but also in real world applications. We are specialized in controllers for unmanned aircraft, but not limited in this category. According to your needs, we design controllers for your system. We support you in creating the requirements and define the controller structure together. Finally, we test the control system intensively. Following our AlphaLink philosophy, your system does not only achieve a high performance, but is also safe in operation.
